What a dino-mite week in the kindergarten pod! 🦕 Did you hear that on Monday a bunch of the dinosaur toys from our room escaped when we read the book, What the Dinosaurs Did at School? We had to walk all over the school to find them. We even found this one (below) eating pasta and making a big mess in the cafeteria!
We used photos of the naughty dinos' shenanigans to write our own book, entitled What the Dinosaurs Did at Nicely. Ask your child where the other dinos were and what they were up to! (The office, the nurse's office, and the art room)

In math, we continued to sort but also added numbers to match each pile. We are discussing the importance of counting accurately by saying only one number for each object we count. We'll continue exploring strategies for accurate counting such as crossing out, moving, or covering in order to ensure we only count each item once.

This week, we learned the correct sound and letter formation for lowercase n and m. We listened for the first and last sound in words and orally counted words in a sentence as a way to understand the difference between letters and words and also so that when we begin adding words to our own stories, we know where to add spaces.
Throughout the week, we drew and painted family portraits and now we're sharing our art with the class as a way to get to know our friends a little better.

Thank you to everyone who donated play-doh. You rock! We used it to form our letters, practice cutting (did you know cutting play-doh worms is fun and great for fine motor practice?), and reinforce accurate counting. Maybe best of all... we played with it using some kitchen supplies from the Dollar Store.

I've always wanted to try more Kindergarten Magic Days, but it takes assistance from you to make it happen. I really appreciate your help, and I know the kids do too! Next Friday: Fall Celebration! 🍂
