It was a week of Halloween fun in Room 35! We made trick or treat scenes in Writer’s Workshop and labeled all the kids, houses, candy, etc. In math, we continued learning about 2D and 3D shapes and made some shape-o-lanterns with Mrs Albright. We learned the sound and formation for lowercase p and j and continued discussing how to differentiate between vowel sounds.
We have been working on two songs which we’ll perform for the veterans next Friday. If your child would like to practice at home, you can find the two songs on YouTube by tapping the pictures below.
Many families contributed to a really lovely Halloween Party on Thursday by donating items or volunteering, and I’m so appreciative! Here are some photos from the party:

Sadly, today is Mrs Albright’s last day with our class for now. She will return in January and February to do her formal student teaching for 8 weeks, so we don’t have to say goodbye just yet! The kids have really benefited from her hands-on lessons and teaching expertise and I’m so happy she’ll be back this winter! Check out the engaging spider bridge challenge she presented to the kids on Halloween…

Today, we took it easy. We got our regular work done, but we did it with our shoes off on our blankets. I’d say it was just what we needed after the excitement of yesterday!
Have a cozy weekend! (Don’t forget to set your clocks back on Sunday!)
