Welcome back, kindergarten friends and families! It was so good to be together this week. We took extra time to play and warm up again to being with each other. This group gets along so well. That's probably why our new friend, Raelynn has fit in so well! We were sad to say goodbye to Kayleb before the holiday break, but happy to gain a new face. Welcome, Raelynn!

In math this week, we compared numbers and thought about the most accurate ways to do so. In the photo above, you can see us comparing the letters in our names.

We also compared numbers while collecting data and graphing the results.

Every morning, we wrote our numbers to 30.... wow!

We had a special visitor from St. Vincent come to talk to our class about rules and feelings. She will be coming to our room one more time this year, but many times between now and fifth grade. Watch for a short homework assignment from this program next week. Below, we are pictured talking about our feelings with Sad Sally, Excited Elsa, Happy Harry, and Angry Andy.

As I explained at the beginning of the year, we have been using Show and Tell as a chance to practice important listening and speaking skills. This week, I taught the kiddos some ways to show someone you are actively listening. We are working on skills such as nodding, making comments that express interest or encourage more details, and asking questions. Turn your volume up and watch the following clip to see our active listening in action!
