Have you heard about the gingerbread antics that went on in our classroom this week?

After reading several versions of the Gingerbread Man, we made some of our own people. They were laying on the table drying… and then they were gone, only leaving this note behind.

They were spotted a few times throughout the week causing havoc in other parts of the school.

While we chased them around the school, we tried to distract ourselves with other work. For instance, we weighed gingerbread on our class scales and found other objects that could balance them.

It wasn’t until we built this giant gingerbread house (inspired by the boy’s similar solution in Jan Brett’s book, Gingerbread Baby)…

… that they FINALLY returned to us!

We also pretended to make our own gingerbread cookies with another fabulous batch of play dough made by Mrs Navari!

And we designed block solutions for the gingerbread man to cross the river…without the help of that sly fox.

Last but not least, we had such fun building gingerbread houses using milk cartons, graham crackers, icing, and all of the candy so generously donated by you! Thank you for helping to make this such a magical week at school. I know I will cherish these memories, and I hope they will too!
